Should expense accounts be scrapped for the super-rich

A politician or other highly salaried person can get their expenses paid, for just about anything. Do they actually need a wage?

Politicians' Covid parties at No10 were 'meetings' to get the booze, food and silly hats on expenses, all this while the country was in lockdown, and Queen Elizabeth was sitting alone, in Westminster Abbey, at the funeral of Prince Phillip. How do they live with themselves?

But, that aside. There are people on high salaries who can claim everything back as a tax relief, or expense account.

A junior doctor not only gets less than an MP's expense account, for working longer hours on a ward say, but they will still have to pay for the carpark at the hospital. The super-rich take public transport, all on expenses. That is hardly fair. Who holds more value as a person, An MP, or junior doctor in A&E?

The doctor, right? Absolutely. Cos they preserve life.

People on expense accounts have no idea how much anything costs to buy or rent. They just don't know. So how can they possibly understand the cost of living for ordinary people?

It isn't only a pathetic excuse for the super rich, it is actually a powerful reason too.

Ordinary people will know the cost of a loaf of bread... A so-called 'business meeting' might be £100+ per person for just the meal.

How do they justify that, when a family of  four, two children at school, two adults at work pay the bills? Kids go hungry...

The highr paid people, regardless of talent or ability, don't actually know the real value of anything, cos they don't have to pay for anything. They don't even look at price tags...
