A deep breath exhaled from her lungs, closing her eyes for a moment. You can do this…be careful. I know. She opened her eyes again, glancing sideways at the blonde haired woman beside her. Bisky nodded. "go on" She gathered her courage, and walked into the exam room. There were people lining the tables, hunched over exam papers. The man looked at her. " Welcome to the U.A entrance exam written test. what's your name?" he said, in a tired tone that hinted at many sleepless nights. She cleared her throat.

"Alluka. Alluka Krueger, sir."

The man's eyes trailed down the clipboard in his hand. "mhm, sit down and start when you're ready" Alluka glanced excitedly back at Bisky for a moment. She'd been her caretaker since Killua and Gon were always on missions, Kurapika never picked up the damn phone, and Leorio was working on his medical degree. She walked into the room and sat down to take the exam, nervous. She still wasn’t entirely used to being out in the world more or less by herself. It felt so…free. But with freedom came a lot of other problems Alluka had never thought about.

As boring and lonely as being cooped up in that one singular room was, everything was given to her. Food, water, toys, everything besides her freedom was pretty much guaranteed. Bisky wasn't exactly a generous 'mother' either. She'd spend more time working and trying to train her than actually taking care of her. I miss big brother…I miss Killua too. Focus Alluka. Alluka picked up her pencil, glancing over the test. As she'd grown older and developed her nen, she and Nanika had found a sort of common ground. They could now communicate with each other, instead of constantly battling for control.

After the test was over she walked back outside the exam room, where Bisky was reading a magazine with an expression that could only be described as a cat looking at a juicy fish. Alluka cleared her throat. "Bisky-Chama?" Bisky glanced up with a startled expression then quickly shut the magazine. "Alluka! There you are" she laughed. "Also I was joking about that you know" Alluka blinked, confused. About what?

Bisky sighed, then replied as if she was reading Alluka's mind. "the honorifics, it's not necessary." She stretched, folding the magazine she'd previously been reading and tucking it gently in her bag. Alluka laughed nervously. "oh- right." she grabbed Bisky's hand as they left the building. "So the practical exam will be held tomorrow, I've gathered some intel about it. There will be robots, and you have to destroy them to get points" her current parental figure said. Alluka nodded, she went to speak but was cut off before she even said a word. "when we get home your running six laps around the neighborhood, and don’t come back until you've done it"

Alluka groaned. "but- Bisky-", "no buts little missy, you need to get some training in today" Bisky said sternly, holding up a finger. Alluka sighed. "yes ma'am…" I miss big brother…. Killua was the only one in the entire world who really treated her like family. Bisky was a good teacher, but she wasn't a good mother. Not to mention, her constant attempt to train alluka put strain on her and nanika's relationship. I'm sorry Nanika… For what? Alluka bit her lip. For not being able to let you out… In the corner of her eye, Alluka saw a face in her minscape, wide gaping eyes and mouth. It's ok!

Alluka gulped, she still felt guilty. Nanika wasn’t allowed out while they were out of the house, then Bisky usually pushed her nen to her limit, so she couldn’t conjure Nanika's physical form. Bisky sighed. "what's the matter Alluka?" She bit her lip. "Hey Bisky uh…could I…not do training today?" Bisky crossed her arms. "you can't take days off, you won't grow that way-", "but what about Nanika!" she cried. They'd walked through the threshold of their apartment so she didn’t have to pretend Nanika didn’t exist anymore. "Nanika never gets to be out because she can't come out unless we're in our house, and when we are then you're making me train! You have to think about her too!"

Bisky was quiet for a moment. "Right…sometimes I forget Nanika's a…person" she admitted, rubbing the back of her head. Alluka frowned slightly. Nanika's my sister… Bisky tried to open her mouth but Alluka ran into her room and slammed the door shut, tearing up. "Alluka-'', "I DON’T WANNA TALK TO YOU BISKY!!" she yelled, tucking her knees into her chest and scowling at the bed she was sitting on.

Why does nobody ever treat Nanika like she's a person? She didn't understand… it'd been like this her whole life. All anyone ever wanted to do was use her! Alluka? Alluka sniffled a little, then held her hand out a slender porcelain hand materialized, clutching hers. Upon it grew an arm, then a torso, then onward. Approximately thirty seconds later, a small doll with a cracked face and slightly tattered clothing was sitting, its hand in hers.

"I love Alluka!" Nanika said, crawling over. Her frame creaked slightly, as the doll wasn’t expertly made. Alluka smiled softly and scooped her up, letting the tiny figure embrace her. "I love you too, Nanika. Now, let's get ready for the entrance exams!"

Chapter two

Alluka sat nervously in a room, it was filled with hundreds of kids her age. She bounced her leg, trying to keep her focus off the strangers. She flexed her fingers anxiously, usually when she was nervous she always held onto her big brother's hand. But Killua wasn’t here…she'd just have to cope. "What's up U.A candidates for tuning into me, your school D.J!" a man said, very loudly. He was standing on the stage, the school logo projected on a screen behind him. "COME ON AND LET ME HEAR YA!"

"…"

The man cleared his throat, the silence a bit awkward. "uh- your very…excited, I see. MOVING ON-" The screen behind him changed from the school icon, to show four styles of robots. "let's get on to the main show then." He proceeded to explain how the exam was going to work. There would be robots, and each had a set of points. Alluka was starting to fall asleep during the explanation when a voice spoke up from near the front. "I have a question!" Alluka turned her head curiously, noticing the male had glasses. Leorio has glasses. She thought, swinging her legs a little.

She looked down at the card, smiling. Battle center A. I wonder who I'll be with? "on the printout you’ve listen four types of robots, not three. With all due respect if this is an error on U.A material this is shameful. We are exemplary students. We expect the best from japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do" Alluka blinked. Why does he care so much? It's just a little mistake. "additionally-"

Alluka zoned out, wondering how she was going to pass this exam Alluka. Yes Nanika? Can I help? Alluka smiled softly. That’s sweet, but no. I just have to figure this out… she snapped back into reality as people started filing out of the room. Alluka quickly got up and followed hastily, walking off her nerves.

She took a deep breath as she stood in front of the gates, waiting for them to open. As soon as they did, a blonde haired boy launched forward, using explosions to propel himself. Alluka flinched back a little from the noise, a bit unnerved. Everyone else rushed forward and Alluka gasped, then quickly followed. I can't fall behind-

Alluka struggled for a while, she wasn’t able to get close to any of the robots without them noticing. Suddenly…an idea formed in her head. She activated zetsu, then slowly approached a two pointer. The robots sense heat and movement, maybe my Zetsu can mask it since it can't exactly see... She held her breath as the robot turned its blaring red eye in her direction. There was a whirring noise. Then it turned, and rolled away.

Alluka snuck up behind the robot, then slipped a mock pocket knife out of a compartment on the inside of her shirt. It wasn’t sharp, but it looked exactly like a traditional pocket knife otherwise. She climbed onto the back of the robot, struggling a bit to keep her balance. As she did that she stabbed the pocket knife into the back of its neck, cutting off the circuits that led to its brain. The robot's whirring slowly drolled to a stop, the light going off inside it. Alluka's eyes shined. I did it!

Chapter 3

That victory was short lived because as soon as the robot crashed to the ground, there was a shout from present mic. "FIVE MINUTES REMAINING!" Alluka's eyes widened. Five minutes!? I only have two points! She started running, before stumbling as there was….a large rumbling. Is there an earthquake!? Alluka's eyes darted around, trying to locate the noise. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw a massive robot tower over the whole city. Tears stung her eyes, and she slowly took a few steps back, trembling a little. I-it's so big, it'll crush me!

"dammit- I can't get a good angle!" Alluka glanced behind her, then gasped when she saw two figured pinned beneath some rubble. She ran over. "are you guys ok!?" one of them looked up at her with these…really weird eyes. She was also pink. "hey! Hey can you like- help a bit? I can melt the rocks but only if I can get my palms on them" she said, wincing a little. The other one was hard to identify, as the only portion of the said person she could see was shoes.

Alluka teared up. "I-I'm not very strong but- I'll try!" she attempted to lift up the rock when there was a whirring noise, a three pointer was approaching. "crap-" the pink girl exclaimed, struggling. Alluka thought fast, activating zetsu and ducking climbing some rubble to get higher ground. "hey! Don’t leave us!" The pink girl struggled, cursing under her breath. The three pointer locked onto them and rolled closer, getting ready to attack.

Alluka panted, lifting up a very heavy rock. She deactivated zetsu to infuse the rock with Nen, then jumped onto it, slamming the rock down against the joint between its head and neck. The robot's neck crumbled under the weight of the nen infused rock, severing the wires partially. The robot let out an angry whirring and turned its glowing red eye on her. Alluka yelped and kicked the metal head, wincing a little as she neglected to enforce it, causing it to throb slightly. That’s gonna have a massive bruise later-

The robot grabbed at her and she slashed at the hand with her blunt pocket knife, barely making a dent in the armor of the metal beast. Be careful! I know- "AHHHHH!" The robot's eye suddenly went dark as a hand stabbed through its already half detached head. Alluka let out a panicked cry as she slid off the now wrecked robot. To her relief, someone caught her. "woah! Careful there beautiful" Alluka looked up at the guy who'd caught her, he had yellow hair with a black line jutting through it, and a grin on his face. "wouldn't want you to get hurt"

Chapter 4

"Woah! Careful there beautiful, wouldn't want you to get hurt"

Alluka hesitated. She hadnt been held like this in a while. She caught herself in a memory.

A younger Alluka was climbing a tree for the first time, laughing. Her older brother stood underneath it, tying his long silky white hair in a ponytail. "be careful Alluka!" The younger Alluka giggled. "I'm ok! Look I'm doing i-" she let out a cry of alarm as the branch snapped beneath her and she plummeted downwards. Her fall was abruptly yet softly broken by comforting arms wrapping around her holding her close. She looked up to see her big brother looking down at her with a gentle smile. "be more careful next time, Alluka." he scolded lightly, gently patting her head.

The lovely memory was cut off by a voice. "woah- are you crying..?" Alluka snapped out of it, she was indeed crying. And the pink girl was looking at her with concern. "H-Huh? Oh its nothing!" she realized she was kind of gripping onto the yellow haired male and let go, standing up once her feet hit the ground. "I just gotta say that was really manly!" a new voice exclaimed. Alluka glanced over and blinked, she didn’t recognize him. "huh?'' Wait a minute…those shoes… he was the one stuck under the rubble! "uh...thanks! But how did you get out?" she asked, slightly befuddled.

The spiky haired teen grinned. "you know that rock you threw?" Alluka blinked, and nodded. "it hit the rock we were trapped under and it cracked it right in half!" the pink girl exclaimed. "so I was able to melt my way out and Kirishima could bust out with his quirk!" Alluka smiled. "oh! Your welcome" She said, then glanced over towards the carnage the massive robot had left behind. "hey! Why don’t we stick together and help the people stuck in the rubble?" she suggested. The group of three glanced at each other. "sure! Why not!" , "strength in numbers I suppose", "I'm down for it!"

For the rest of the exam they followed the destruction of the giant robot, which Kirishima explained to her was a zero pointer. I really wish I paid more attention to the explanation- Four minutes later, there was a loud blaring. "TIIIIIME'S UP!" Alluka finally let herself relax, panting, hands on her knees. She wasn't used to that much running around and lifting things, it really did a number on her energy. "so how many points did you get?" Kirishima asked her. Alluka blinked. "oh- I forgot to count"

"Hey, you look tired," Kaminari, the yellow haired teen, said. Alluka laughed softly. "Well, I am" he chuckled, then a goofy grin spread across his face. "I mean I could carry you" Alluka smiled gratefully and leaned against him. "That'd be great actually," Kaminari blinked. "I was- not expecting that answer-" he muttered under his breath, then chuckled softly. "but I'm not complaining" He lifted Alluka in his arms as the group started walking towards the exit of the exam. Alluka snuggled against his chest, finding comfort in the closeness to another person.

She slowly dozed off in his arms, Alluka had a bad habit of falling asleep when she got too comfortable.

Chapter 5

"…y..lu……..all…..wa…." Alluka yawned, smiling tiredly. That was a good nap- "wake up you little brat!" Alluka gasped and tried to get to her feet, which sent her tumbling out of Kaminari's arms and onto the ground. "Y-Yes ma'am! Owie…" she wheezed slightly, the breath knocked out of her lungs. "woah! That wasn't manly-" Kirishima was cut off by Kaminari. "don’t you think that was a bit harsh? Hey- are you alright?" concern colored his voice.

Alluka looked up, seeing the three she'd completed the exam with as well as Bisky standing over her. “Y-yeah I’m alright.-” Bisky looked down at her with a disapproving expression. “She’s fine. Up” Bisky ordered. Alluka scrambled to her feet, panting. Kaminari huffed. “Aren't you a little too young to be bossing someone our age around?” he said, with a grin. “Go back home and play with your toys little kiddie”

Alluka sputtered, taking several steps back. Ashido gulped, noticing her expression. “Uh-” Bisky cleared her throat, then turned a blank stare on Kamiari, who hesitated. “I’m more than three times your age, boy.” She spat. “So I'd show a little respect if I were you.” Alluka laughed nervously, she could tell Kaminari was about to comment on her age. Commenting on Bisky’s age never went well. “You're really o-”, “holy crap! You're really youthful for your age, you look so young!” Kirishima exclaimed. Bisky’s eyes shined and the scowl she had on her face transformed into a smile. “Aren’t you a lovely young man, such a charmer” she said, laughing.

Alluka tugged on Kaminari’s sleeve, and he glanced at her. “Huh? Woah- you look-”, “Never comment on Bisky’s age” she whispered. Kaminari looked very confused. “Why not?” Alluka eyed Bisky for a moment. “I don’t want you to die” she hissed, worriedly. There had been several times people had commented on Alluka’s age once they arrived in Japan, and 80% of them had all said the same thing. ‘Wow you're old’ that small phrase had gotten them in big trouble. She didn't want poor Kaminari to suffer the same fate.

“D-die?” Kaminari looked very alarmed. “Well- she’s just an o-” Alluka held a finger up to his lips, silencing him. “Shh!” she lowered her voice even more. “ She's in her 60’s but she gets uh…really mad when people mention it, and I know she looks small and cute but she can rip a metal door right off it's hinges without even trying '' Kaminari gulped, then glanced at Bisky again. Kirishima and Bisky were still talking, as well as Ashido. Bisky locked eyes with Alluka, then cleared her throat. “We have to get going, nice chat. Brat!” Alluka sighed. “Yes, Bisky.”

Chapter 6

As days passed Alluka relaxed a little. She spent loads of time with Nanika, and even managed to let Bisky agree to letting her take a day off to go have fun! Alluka walked down the street, smiling. She loved the air, the people, the streets, she loved everything about the outdoors. It was so new. It was so…free. Her eyes shined as she saw a particular building, it's shelves lined with pastries and cakes. They look so yummy! Alluka walked in, the bell on the door dinging to announce her arrival. The store was cozy and smelled like freshly baked goods.

Alluka took a moment just smelling the sweet air, smiling. It smells so good in here! “Hello there young lady,” an older woman said from the counter. “What can I get for you?” Alluka looked around, drooling a little. “I simply can’t choose! There’s too many, I want all of them.” The woman laughed. “My, aren’t you cute. You have to choose darling.” Alluka huffed. But I want all of them. “I can’t pick,” The woman at the counter sighed. “Well-” , “I’ll just take all of them” she said, with a smile. The woman at the counter blinked. “Pardon?” Alluka smiled. “I said I want all of them, how much would that be?”

“You want to…buy out the whole store?”

“Yeah!”

The woman at the counter looked at her quizzically. “Listen, sweetie. You don't have enough money for it. And even if you did, there’s a limit on how many items you can buy per person in the store.” a frown went across Alluka’s face. “Ok then…one of each?” she tried, bouncing on her toes. “Hun…there’s a limit on how many pastries per person you can buy.” the older woman repeated to her, tone lowering slightly. Alluka tapped her fingers on the counter, biting her lip. “Well..how about one of each type then?” There was a sigh, and the woman rubbed her temples. “Dear, just pick one or get out” Alluka frowned. “But i cant choose…” There were just too many options, she couldn’t pick just one. Why couldn't she just have one of each? It didn’t make any sense. “Kid. buy something, or leave. It's that simple” The older woman said, a clear underlying irritation in her words. “But-”

“Get out.”

Alluka walked down the street with her head lowered, sniffling a little. I don't understand why she was so mean… All she wanted was some pastries. “You alright?” Alluka looked up glumly. “Hm?” a very tall muscular young man with a wide build was standing in front of her. “No…” The teenager frowned a little, then bent his knees a little to get closer to her height as he towered over her. “What happened?” Alluka sighed. “I couldn’t choose what kind of pastry I wanted from the pastry shop and the lady kicked me out..”

“Well, I could give you some brownies I have left over from a school baking fair,” he said with a shrug, pulling out a container. “Nobody wanted…them. They aren’t that good.” he said, with an awkward smile. Alluka’s eyes shined a little and took one of them, before taking a bite. Her eyes widened, shining. “Mm!” She shoved the rest in her mouth, then grabbed another. “So good!” The teenager blinked. “Really?” She nodded eagerly, taking five more. “You can have the rest! I don't need a whole lot” she said, smiling. “Oh- I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Alluka Z-” she cut herself off. “K-Krueger! Alluka Krueger.

“I’m Rikido Sato, nice to meet you”

Chapter 7

“Alluka Zoldyck!” Alluka jolted upright and fell off her bed with a yelp in her haste, having been yelled awake by Bisky. “Y-Yeah?” she found herself startled awake a lot more often than she’d like. Bisky was standing in the doorway, the scowl on her face contrasting her delicate features. “School starts in thirty minutes, it's a twenty minute walk. And you're still sleeping?” She gasped. “I forgot!” What's happening? it's early. Nanika said sleepily, having just woken up. “School,” Alluka replied. Bisky cleared her throat, catching her attention. “Huh?”

“Don't reply to her out loud in public, sweetie. It makes you look crazy” Alluka’s cheeks flushed a little. “S-sorry” she said, embarrassed, as she pulled on her uniform. Alluka stuffed an eclair in her mouth and ran out the door, chewing it as she ran. She’d managed to train up her stamina in the past few weeks as she was waiting for her results. She looked up at the massive school, eyes shining. It's so  big! She was always fascinated by large buildings, and U.A was no exception. She walked up the halls, humming a light tune. Alluka’s backpack bounced as she ran up the stairs, a bright smile on her face. “Oooh!” she walked up to the door, it was so massive. Can people get that big? Wow!

There were already people inside talking, including a brown haired girl and a curly green haired boy in the doorway. She went to step over a yellow lump on the floor but paused, peering down at it. “Huh?” There was…a man in a bundle of cloth on the floor. “Mr, are you ok?” she asked, in concern. The person sighed as the chatter behind her kept going. “At least one of you is observant” Suddenly the chatter behind her came to a halt, and she glanced up. “Huh?” everybody was staring at her..

Alluka’s eyes shined as she recognized multiple faces. “Welcome to U.A’s hero course. It took 7.5 seconds for you all to shut up, that's not gonna fly here” there was shuffling behind her as she walked into the room and sat down in the only empty seat. She giggled and waved to Sato, who was right next to her. Sato smiled back, before returning his eyes to the yellow bundle. Alluka copied him, jittery with excitement. “Time is precious, rational students would understand that” The black haired man slipped out of the yellow cocoon, and stepped into the room.

“I’m Shota Aizawa, you're homeroom teacher” he said, tiredly. The poor guy looked like he hadn't slept in days. Alluka tilted her head as he pulled out a white and blue uniform from the pile of yellow cloth. “Put these on and head outside, all of you” Alluka stood up, bouncing on her toes in excitement. I can’t wait!

Chapter 8

“A quirk assessment test?” the class exclaimed. Alluka was standing in the back next to Ashido and some guy with weird arms, she tried not to stare too much. “But what about orientation?” a girl in the front whined. “We’re gonna miss it!” Aizawa had his back to the group of students. “If you really want to make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies. Here at U.A we aren’t tethered to tradition, which means I can run this class how I see fit.” he went on a long ramble about how not all men were created equal and the country should stop pretending like they were.

She zoned out staring at that guy’s arms, trying to figure out what they were supposed to be- “DIEEEE!” BOOM. Alluka gasped and dropped to the ground instantly, eyes up. She wasn't the smartest or the strongest, but the one thing she did have in her advantage was her quick reaction time. Several people turned to look at her, and she realized it was just the blonde guy’s quirk. That’s embarrassing- “those reflexes are pretty manly! But…its just bakubro’s quirk, nothing to worry about” Kirishima said, with a friendly grin.

“EXPELLED?” someone exclaimed from the front, causing the two to look towards the fight.  “You can't send us home! We just got here! It's only been one day. That's not fair!” Alluka blinked. Well it could be worse if you think about it… “you think natural disasters are fair? Or villain attacks?” Aizawa said. “The world is full of unfairness, it's your job as a hero to combat that unfairness. If you want to be a pro, you’ve got to push yourself to the bring. You’ll be pushed to you're limit. Go beyond, plus ultra. Show me you want to be here. Show me you deserve it.”

Alluka clenched her fist, eyes hardening in determination. This isn't going to be easy, it's gonna be hard. It’s gonna take a lot of work, but I’ll do it!

The whistle blew, and Alluka ran. She ran as fast as she could, determined. She passed the line, and the electronic voice read her the time “6.5 seconds.” Alluka frowned. Big brother could’ve done it faster…She knew that’s what Bisky would say. She always compared her to Killua, for better or worse. Most times it was worse. Alluka panted, putting her hair up in a ponytail. But I'm still gonna try my best!

Chapter 9

Test after test she completed, she started to get more and more insecure. Pretty much all her classmates had gotten crazy good scores on one or two or even all of their tests. She just felt so inadequate..she should’ve trained harder. She gripped onto her pants, tearing up. I’m gonna fail…im gonna fail i'm gonna fail i'm gonna- There was a massive boom, startling her out of her worries. She turned her head, to see a baseball shooting past. The curly green haired boy was standing at the pitch, a determined look on his face. Huh? I didn't know he was so strong. She thought, a bit awed.

Wait, is his…finger…broken? Alluka frowned. Surely he can’t do all the other tests with a broken finger, it must hurt so bad! “Mr. Aizawa. I’m still standing” he said, clenching his fists, a grin laced with forced back pain on his face. “H-Hey!” he glanced back at her. “Huh?” Alluka shifted a little. “U-Uh…that must hurt…shouldn't it get healed before he continues? It might do more damage!” The class turned to look at her, and she hesitated. Aizawa sighed. “He’ll get to go see recovery girl after class. But for the purposes of the test, he won’t be allowed to. Get back in line.”

Alluka’s worried frown turned into a determined grit of her teeth. I don't care what he says, that’s not right. If he continues he’ll fall to last place and be expelled!  Alluka walked over to him, ignoring Aizawa’s warning. There was a commotion but she ignored it, gently grabbing the teen’s hand. “W-what are you-” Alluka closed her eyes. Nanika, I need your help. With what? She gently unfolded his hand and smoothed the fingers out, so she could see the finger better. My classmate, he’s hurting. Can you fix him? She knew Nanika. Nanika never expelled violence, when she was in the act of healing. No matter how big the wish was, if it was a healing wish there was no consequence.

Kay.

Then she gently touched the injured part of his finger, causing him to wince. Alluka let out a deep breath. “Alluka, get back in line-” white aura surrounded the damaged digit, and there was an audible gasp from several of her classmates. Within a few moments, the broken finger was healed. Alluka opened her eyes and stepped back, then turned and stuck her tongue out at Aizawa. “Now, I'll go back in line.” she said, walking back to her place in the line. Aizawa just stood staring at her for a moment, an unreadable expression on his face.

Alluka looked away with a huff, scowling. She was mad at him right now. “Woah I didn't know you could do that,” Kaminari said. “That was sick!” Alluka blinked, then smiled. “Thanks!” some girl she’d never met before with an invisible body walked over. “That was really cool!” Alluka’s eyes shined. People kept chatting with her, complimenting her. She giggled childishly, loving the attention. Everybody’s so nice! “Alright alright, enough with the chatter. Back to work” Aizawa said gruffly. Alluka met the curly haired boy’s gaze and smiled at him, and he nodded in thanks before going off to the next test. I might not be good at fighting or dodging or running like big brother, but this i'm good at!

All that time she spent shadowing Leorio wasn't in vain either, she could deal with small injuries and such without needing Nanika at all. With her brother and Gon away most of the time for training, she was always bored in the house. That boredom resulted in her following Leorio around, and him happily teaching her about the basics of his craft. She had to admit she wasn’t super invested in becoming a doctor, or a healer, but the knowledge wouldn't hurt. Plus big brother always says even the strongest fighters should know how to patch up a bulletwound. She guessed that was both metaphorical and literal in it's meaning. I hope I never have people shooting at me- “Alluka” Aizawa said, in an irritated tone. Alluka snapped out of it, blushing in embarrassment. “H-Huh?” he sighed. “Next test, go.”

“Y-Yes sir!”

Chapter 10

Alluka stood with the other students nervously, biting her lip. Because of her healing the other kid, his scores improved. Which in turn…lowered her chances of success. Why did I do that? Now I'm gonna be expelled… All of the other students were crowded around the board that was projected. She gently pushed past so she could see. People were muttering, looking at her. She anxiously looked down the list, her anxiety ascending higher and higher the lower she got without seeing her name on that list.

Her breath caught in her throat. Number 20, Alluka Krueger. She lowered her head, tearing up. The scores are only slightly off too, if I hadn’t healed him he’d have been the one going home. She wiped her eyes, refusing to cry like a baby. Well…trying to be a hero was fun while it lasted… “Oh…I’m so sorry Alluka… If you hadn’t helped me…” Midoriya said, looking really guilty. Alluka huffed. “Don't apologize for something I did” she said, rubbing the back of her head. I’m sorry Alluka…can I help? No Nanika… “and also, nobody’s going home”

Alluka’s eyes widened, and she glanced up. Aizawa had a grin on his face. “It was a rational deception to get you to try your hardest.” Alluka’s eyes shined, and she beamed. I did it? I’m not going home! She hugged the closest person, squealing. “I still get to be a hero! Yay!” Kaminari blinked, then hugged back with a laugh. “Yeah-you know you have a cute laugh Alluka“ Alluka giggled more at the compliment, smiling, “thanks!” I like Kaminari. He called us pretty. Nanika said. Yeah, and he’s always smiling at us too. I think he wants to be our friend! “Hey Kaminari, can I ask you something?” she asked, slowly letting go of him. The rest of the class was already walking away, although a few stayed.

“Hm? Oh yeah, sure” Alluka’s eyes shined. “Are we friends?” Kaminari blinked, seeming slightly confused. “Well yeah, of course.” Alluka beamed, starting to walk into the building to grab that syllabus. “Sounds great!” she hesitated for a moment, realizing people were…staring at her in the hallway. She coughed awkwardly and quieted herself. You're sixteen Alluka, not ten. She scolded herself. It had been hard adjusting to life after she was free, one of the hardest things about growing up was, well…growing up. She might be in highschool, but she sure as hell didn’t act like it most of the time. Bisky regularly compared her to a fluffy headed elementary schooler.

“Hey, are you ok? You seem a bit down” Kaminari said, frowning slightly. Alluka nodded. “Yeah. just…realized how immature I was being. I’m sorry.” A laugh erupted from the yellow haired boy beside her. “I don’t mind, actually I think it's cute” Alluka’s cheeks flushed a bit. She was starting to get a little embarrassed, not even her big brother complimented her this much. “Ah, I have to go. But I'll see you tomorrow, Kaminari!” Kaminari grinned. “Yeah, see ya later!” Alluka walked away, giggling. He’s super nice!

Chapter 11

Alluka groaned, resting her head on the desk. This is so hard. Alluka had never really been properly schooled, she’d known that might be an issue walking in. but she didn't expect it to be this hard. She’d had to ask Nanika for help several times, but most of the time she didn’t even know how to help. Soon enough, it was lunch time. Alluka didn't even bother going for a school lunch, she’d already brought hers from home. Her eyes scanned the tables, trying to look for someone she knew. There! Her eyes lit up on Sato and Ashido sitting together with Kaminari.

Alluka walked over with a smile. “Hi!” Ashido glanced up and her eyes shined. “Alluka! Come sit with us!” She took a seat next to Sato, grinning. “I have a present for you.” Kaminari shot a jealous look at Sato, which Alluka ignored. Maybe I'll get him a present tomorrow too. Sato looked slightly surprised. “Really?” She nodded, then pulled a red velvet cupcake out of it. She offered it to him. “This is for you! As thanks for the brownies.”

Sato laughed awkwardly as he stared at the cupcake. It was…kind of burnt, and the frosting was melting. And it was pretty dry. Ashido tilted her head slightly. “Brownies?” Alluka nodded. “Yeah, Sato gave me some brownies a few days ago. So I wanted to return the favor!” Sato took the cupcake, then gave her a thumbs up. “It looked…very delicious,” he said, with a chuckle. Alluka beamed. “Thanks! I made it myself” Alluka you can't bake. Nanika said dryly. H-hush! Alluka retorted in her mind, face flushing a little.

Sato stared at the cupcake for a moment, then took a bite. Alluka’s eyes shined. “Is it good?” Sato nodded, a bit of a strained look on his face. “Mhm!” He quickly wolfed down the rest of it, then took a giant swig of water. “It tasted great Alluka.” Alluka smirked a little. See? He loved it. He has a look of pain on his face. Alluka hesitated, then looked closer at Sato’s expression. You're…right. She sighed, looking down. Ashido frowned. “What’s wrong?” Alluka shook her head, taking a bite of a doughnut she’d packed for lunch. “I can’t bake, I know Sato only ate it because he didn’t want to be mean…” Don’t feel sad…I’m sorry…I love Alluka! Alluka smiled softly. I love you too Nanika, and it’s ok. I’d rather you be honest with me actually.

“Well..yeah, it wasn’t that good,” Sato said awkwardly. As Alluka sank a bit into her chair he continued. “But, I know what you did wrong.” Alluka looked up. “Really?” he nodded, smiling. “You just left it in the oven for too long, and put the frosting on before it cooled. Next time if you take it out a bit earlier and wait for it to cool down before frosting it, it’ll taste a lot better!” Alluka’s glum expression turned into a happy smile once more. “Oh! Yeah I can do that! Thanks!” Kaminari looked quizzically at Sato. “How do you know anything about baking?” he asked, a hint of confusion in his voice. Sato looked a little embarrassed. “Well I...bake in my free time, because of my quirk.” Before Kaminari could respond, the lunch bell rang. Alluka gathered her things, an excited glint in her eye.

Next class is gonna be so exciting! I can’t wait!
